Cage the Elephant - Ain't no Rest for the Wicket

An interesting music video for this song. It is a bit out there but I like it.

Just remember -
"There ain't no rest for the wicked, money don't grow on trees.
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, and ain't nothin' in this world for free.
Now I can't slow down, I can't hold back, though you know I wish I could.
But there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good."

Freestylers - Cracks (Flux Pavilion Remix)

Best listened to at maximum volume on either headphones with great bass or a stereo system with a huge sub woofer. I personally use a set of Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA2 5.1 surround headphones. They have a dedicated sub driver so the bass hits really hard.

Make sure to select 480p or higher for better audio quality.

Billy Joel - The Longest Time

The Longest Time was the 4th single released on the 1983 Billy Joel album An Innocent Man and the song wasn't a single until 1984. It is a do-wop number with Billy doing 14 vocal tracks which are all mixed together along with a bass line, high hats, and snapping fingers to produce the final song.

The Verve Pipe - The Freshman

Released in 1996 (15 years ago... now I feel old) by The Verve Pipe, The Freshman is a take of a young couple that gets pregnant, has an abortion and then feels guilt stricken to the point that she kills herself with an overdose. The suicide never actually happened but the story of the abortion is based on real events in the artist's life. In the end the song is basically saying "we were all kids (freshman) at one time in our lives, we all make mistakes, let it go."

Norman Greenbaum - Spirit In The Sky

It's time for some classic rock! Spirit In The Sky was recorded by Norman Greenbaum in 1969 and while it contains lyrics about the afterlife and Jesus, Greenbaum was Jewish and said that he had no particular religious intentions with the song. Spirit In The Sky topped out at #3 on the Billboard charts.

Citizen Cope - Let The Drummer Kick

The first time I heard this song was in the movie Accepted. I thought he was saying "let the drama kid die", but the line is actually "let the drummer kick that." The song is calming with a nice drum beat, a hypnotic piano melody, and a good bass line. Citizen Cope is an American musician currently living in Brooklyn, New York.

I have included two videos with this song today. The first is an amazing typographic animation but it only uses about half the song. The second video is the entire song if you want the whole thing.

Isreal 'IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World

An absolutely beautiful rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and his ukulele. "IZ" was a Hawaiian musician born in 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Unfortunately he died in 1997 but his memory lives on in his beautiful melodies and soothing voice.

Welcome to Pandora Per Day

Welcome to the start of Pandora Per Day! Pandora is an amazing streaming radio service that plays songs based on your likes. You start by giving it a song title or artist name and it creates a station around that. As songs play you can give each song a thumb up or a thumb down and this will help shape the station's future playlist.

I have been using Pandora for many years now and have come across many songs that I would never have heard on my own so I have created this blog as a dedication to Pandora. Every day I will post a new song that I have heard on Pandora; it could be hip hop, blues, metal, almost any kind of music as I have a very eclectic taste.

Today's featured song is a bit of hip hop from my "Boombox" station; Federal Moguls - "Bad Rap" off of the album High Risk Investment Planning.
